forensic vehicle engineering accident reconstruction

Accident reconstruction is the art and science of establishing the circumstances surrounding a collision event. Whether it is the collection and analysis of EDR data, calculation of vehicle speed, path and momentum, or the utilization of drone technology to capture vehicle damage patterns and accident scene characteristics, the technicians of Lange Technical Services have the experience, education computer programs and technology to prove how and why a collision occurred.

Collision damage verification (aka collision damage analysis) is the art and science of establishing the cause of collision related damage. Although similar, traditional accident reconstruction may only be applied when sufficient data exists (i.e. skid marks, vehicle positions, accident scene diagrams, etc.). The majority of collision related investigations do not have sufficient evidence (or damage) to perform and accident reconstruction however, the determining the causes of damage and their relationship to vehicle involved collision utilize Newtonian physics, tool mark analysis, paint and debris analysis, vehicle construction and understanding of how vehicles respond to collision forces. From this, the allegation of collision while “parked and unattended” can be established and evidence of damage alterations (enhancements and fabrications) may be identified.
